This was a tough listen as someone who has family and friends directly impacted by the genocide in Palestine. The reason Arab voters are so fed up by the Democrat party were pretty much summed up by all of Alex’s points, though his intention was the opposite.
No one cares how far Kamala stands from Netanyahu when it’s her administration funding the genocide happening now.
And though I know he didn’t mean it, calling for people to look at the long game is insulting when we’re seeing the torture and carnage that’s currently taking place. It’s like saying, “hey kid in Gaza who lost both your legs from an Israeli bomb, I know losing your legs sucked, but we’re still going to vote for the person who’s a part of the administration that funded said bomb because we need to look at the long game here.” (Ok I know Alex doesn’t actually think that, but the unintentional lack of sensitivity in his comment came across that way).
Obviously we don’t want Trump to win. We want her campaign to make firm commitments now, because we don’t want Biden 2.0 when it comes to Israel policy, and other than her soft gestures like distance from Netanyahu in a photo opp, there haven’t been any concrete differences that her campaign has shown yet.
