I wanted to nitpick about one thing. The carnivor diet is the "new" keto/low/no carb diets that were the "new" atkins from the early 00s. Personally - I think it's not sustainble but there is science behind it.
Starve yourself of carbs to deplete your reserves. Eating only fat/protein makes you body go into ketotosis (keto diet) where your body switches to fat as it's energy source. This makes some people lose weight faster, can lower cholesterol (yes!) and many claim you think more clearly. This diet can minimize seizures from epilepsy too (where I think it was originally used).
However, there are better, more sustainble ways to lose weight following a balanced diet. Eating meat all the time is expensive (class argument). The lack of fiber in these diets is horrifying. (some of them claim you don't need fiber). If I was sedentary and overweight it might be worthwhile only eating ground beef once a day for a time to burn off "reserves " before going to a balanced diet. Otherwise - not for me.
All this being said I've noticed since 2020 this style of diet being politized more by right wing fitness influencers. It's not a new thing but being treated as is. Now I feel right wing for talking about carbs. :D
Great episode!
